The ethno-cultural character of proverbs and sayings in the work of M. Kashkari’s “Diwan Lughat Al-Turk”

Abstract

The article deals with the socio-cultural aspects of the proverbs and sayings that were cited in the text of the famous work of Kaşgarlı Mahmut «Divanü Lugat’it-Türk». In «Divanü Lugat’it-Türk», the work of a famous thinker in the Turkic world of the XI century Kaşgarlı Mahmut, is described the communication culture between people from different social groups. The author, on the basis of using the richness of oral folklore that adorned the text of the narrative in an instructive foreshortening. The position of the scientist starts from verbal art, wise aphoristic speech, brilliant ideas and also the truth. Through the use of proverbs and sayings, the author’s thought is easily conveyed to the reader and remains in his memory for a long time. Many winged, expressive words of Kaşgarlı Mahmut are widespread among the people today. The article analyzes various proverbs and sayings from the socio-cultural perspective.
