Abstract

In this article, the author examines the history of state-confessional relations, opinions about the
role of the religion in public life, the concept of “confession” and its formation, also studies the process of secularization and modern forms of interaction between the state and religion. In addition, the author analyzed the basic
concepts and provisions relating to the religion and reflected in the constitutions of various countries. Moreover, author paid attention to such issues as state policy based on the religiosity of higher authorities, their key concepts and
provisions, characteristics of national and non-traditional religions, issues of trust and freedom.
