This article discusses the features of Korean postmodernism and the resulting poetics of the
contemporary Korean story. These features determine the relevance of the research topic. The purpose of the
research is to identify the main directions of development of Korean postmodernism. The scientific and practical
significance of the study lies in determining the main directions of the influence of Korean postmodernism
on the poetics of the story. The research methodology is based on a systematic approach to the analysis of the
research object.
The study, using Park Mingyu’s story ‘Biscuit’ as an example, found that Korean postmodernism in general
is similar to Western postmodernism in form but always reflects the Korean model of world understanding in
content. The value of this study lies in the fact that the analysis materials allow us to show the postmodern trends
in the poetics of Korean stories and to express their differences from Western trends. The practical significance
of the study lies in the fact that it expands knowledge in this area and its results can be used for further research.
