To the question of the contribution of the works of A. Baitursynov to the development of turkology

Abstract

In this article, a comprehensive analysis of the scientific works of Ahmet Baitursynov was
conducted. Ahmet Baitursynov is one of the most outstanding representatives of the Kazakh intelligentsia of the
early 20th century, whose works were inaccessible to the average reader for many decades, whose contribution to
the Kazakh cultural heritage is enormous. His main scientific interest was in areas such as philology, terminology,
literature studies, turkology, pedagogy, etc. The main purpose of this article is to collect scientific works of Baitursynov,
to evaluate his political and social activities-to reveal the significance of his scientific works for the development of
modern Turkology. To achieve the goal, the following tasks were set: collection of historical information about the
realities of that time and socio-political activities of Ahmet Baitursynov as one of the leaders of the Alash party, the
collection and analysis of Baitursynov’s scientific works and an assessment of their applicability in Turkology. The
work carried out showed that the research conducted by Akhmet Baitursynov had an impact on Kazakh philology,
some of his works on terminology and literature contributed to the development of Turkology of that time, and his
participation in the Turkic congress in Baku in 1926 shows his interest in this field of science.
