Abstract

The article examines the historical development of phraseological units used in the ancient Turkic and medieval periods, as well as their structural and semantic changes. The evolution of phraseological units is analyzed from a diachronic perspective, and their continuity with modern Turkic languages is argued on the basis of written sources. During the study, linguistic data from ancient Turkic languages and modern Turkic languages were used for a comprehensive analysis based on comparative-historical, anthropocentric and structural-semantic modeling methods. It is established that phraseological units undergo various modifications during the development of a language: changes in components and shifts in positions, grammatical and phonetic modifications, semantic transformations, and others. As a result of semantic transformation, the original meaning of phraseological units changes partially or completely and takes on new meanings and shades of meaning. A comprehensive analysis aims to identify the structural and semantic features of phraseological units from ancient Turkic times and their changes in later Turkic languages, including Kazakh. The results of the study allow us to identify the continuity and changes in the phraseological system of Turkic languages, contributing to a deeper understanding of the historical dynamics of Turkic phraseology and the mechanisms of shaping the current state of the language.
