Abstract

The object of research in this article is the burial and memorial buildings of the Turkic peoples of the
Middle Ages and the new time. The question of the transformation of the tradition of the construction of ancient Turkic anthropomorphic sculptures is investigated. Ancient Turkic stone sculptures are a fairly well-known phenomenon,
currently relatively well studied by researchers. The problem of the semantics of ancient Turkic anthropomorphic
sculptures (VI - IX centuries), Kypchak sculpture (X - XIII centuries) is touched upon. In later periods, under the
influence of Islam, this tradition ceases to exist. The purpose of the work is to identify the possible manifestations of
this tradition in the late Middle Ages and in the new time. Within the framework of this goal, some types of structures
of Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Siberian Tatars were analyzed. In particular, the Kazakh kulpytas, the Kazakh and Kyrgyz tuls
etc. The possibility of genetic continuity of these structures and ancient Turkic stone sculptures was postulated.
