In this article, from a theoretical point of view, we consider the policy of the United States to achieve
global hegemony, as well as the US position towards the European Union in the framework of current events in the
EU. After the end of the Cold War, the EU-US partnership on the NATO blog turned into a competition. EU actions
to build political and military unity have strengthened the trend towards a multipolar world pattern. This, in turn, is
very important from the point of view of the threat of US global hegemony.
In the article, the authors explain the US policy towards the EU in the context of increasing migration due to the
Arab spring, increased separatist sentiment in the EU countries, the Brexit process, the Panamanian documents, the
rise of populism, personal and collective hedonism in the EU countries. Also, the authors explain the events taking
place, drawing parallels between modern processes that began (or started by external forces) in the EU and the
historical decline of the Roman Empire.
