Abstract

An analysis of the military-political situation in Central Asia shows that a direct military threat
in the short and medium term is unlikely. The problems of terrorist threats, the activity of extremist groups of a religious nature, the growing drug trafficking from Afghanistan and others come to the fore, which in turn explains the
relevance of the topic covered.
The article discusses the issues of regional security in Central Asia, as well as ways of interaction between
the states of the region in the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation
Organization.
