Abstract

Being the ninth largest state in the world and the largest landlocked country, Kazakhstan has
won less than other countries from the growth of transcontinental trade and the subsequent industrial revolution.
The political ideology of the Soviet Union and the southern borders also presented little opportunity for trade in the
twentieth century. Nevertheless, the rapid revival of the Silk Road and large investments in infrastructure for the
next decade foreshadow the revival of Kazakhstan as a trade center in Central Asia. In 2013, in Astana, President of
China Xi Jinping proposed the concept of «One Belt One Road». The goal of the concept is to improve and create
new trade routes, transport and economic corridors, to strengthen economic ties between Euro-Asian countries. The
concept «One Belt One Road» connects about 70 countries. The article considers some strategic aspects and possible
economic consequences of the participation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main attention is paid to the impact
on the economic development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
