Abstract

At present, security issues are paramount for each state. The Republic of Kazakhstan is not an
exception, being a leader in the Central Asian region is pursuing a policy of close cooperation both in the region and
with the CIS countries as a whole. The article deals with the establishment of cooperation of the CIS states on military
security issues. A comparative analysis of the content of terms “national security” and “military security” was made.
The interpretation of the definition of security is presented both in the works of domestic researchers, both near and
far abroad. This article was prepared on the basis of study and analysis of the legal framework of political and military
cooperation of the CIS states. The issues of the establishment and development of Kazakh-Russian cooperation on
military security were considered. The main contracts, agreements concluded on a bilateral basis were examined and
analyzed.
